Welcome to Church of the Redeemer, Addison, NY,

located within the Southeast District of the Diocese of Rochester, NY.  An historic parish dating from 1854, we proudly proclaim that “Church of the Redeemer extends a warm welcome to persons of all ages, races, ethnicities, cultures, gender, sexual orientation, and economic conditions, physical or mental abilities.  We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves, to respect the dignity of every person and to proclaim the Good News of God’s Love for all his children.”

Geographically, the village of Addison is just above the Pennsylvania border in what is known as the Southern Tier of the Finger Lakes Region.  Physically, Addison is a community of about 2000 people residing on tree-lined streets, some of which evidence historic homes, many of them lovingly restored.  The village is home to nine church parishes.  There are locally owned businesses which serve the village and its surrounding rural area.  Addison has a Central School District, a volunteer fire department, a library, and several small parks.

At Church of the Redeemer, we celebrate the Holy Eucharist every week, Rite I on the first Sunday of each month, Rite II all other Sundays, with hymns and sung responses.  A coffee hour follows the worship service.  In Lent we have a directed study group for adults.  Congregants from the community churches are invited to participate in our Good Friday Stations of the Cross.  Our parish is mission oriented, contributing to UTO, the Southeast District’s annual projects, local food pantries, Addison Youth Center, Paradise Garden Animal Haven, local emergency needs, Act ‘N Do which prepares Thanksgiving Dinners for over 600 needy persons, and collects toys which are distributed to local children for Christmas.

We are an aging congregation, working to invite new families to become engaged in our mission to worship devoutly and serve the needs of our neighbors and the world.  This year there are 13 pledging units in our parish.  We are a prayerful, caring church family.

We endeavor to serve Christ in all persons in all places.  Through this endeavor we aim to strengthen our parish within the community, and within the diocese ever mindful of our Lord’s directive to love one another.
