St. Peter's (Memorial) Episcopal Church

Founded in 1831, St. Peter's (Memorial) Episcopal Church has been an important part of life in Dansville, NY ever since. The small congregation is diverse with religiously blended families, LGBTQ members, a variety of political perspectives, and members of every living generation. The Anglican tradition has allowed the church to be a meeting ground for various perspectives with a common commitment to hospitality, learning, and friendship. Although attendance has not recovered from the pandemic, outreach continues with a substantial investment in digital worship, leadership in the monthly community meal (also hosted by St. Peter's), representation in key community groups (such as the YMCA board and civic organizations), and facilitation of community activities in the park the parish shares with 2 other congregations. The congregation is mindful of the challenges it shares with so many other churches regarding membership development and sustainability, but it embraces "a reasonable and holy hope" for the future that is reflected in its ongoing mission.
