Episcopal SeniorLife Communities:

In 1868, a group of Episcopal women saw a need in the Rochester community and acted; their faith and quiet determination led to the establishment of the Episcopal Church Home. At that time, The Episcopal Church Home served women and children in need of shelter; today, The Home serves elders needing skilled nursing care. Over time, the organization has become Episcopal SeniorLife Communities serving 1,450 seniors each year with the help of more than 550 dedicated, professional staff members as well as community partners and volunteers.

As a faith-based, not-for-profit, ESLC strives to fulfill its social obligation by offering diverse choices attractive to seniors with varying backgrounds, faith perspectives, means, needs and interests with a particular desire to advocate and provide programs for underserved populations. Our programs address health, housing and community needs across 9 campuses.

ESLC SERVICES

  • Health: skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care

  • Housing: affordable housing, independent living, patio homes

  • Community Services: service coordination, supportive housing services and health and wellness programs

Locations: Episcopal Church Home, Valley Manor and River Edge Manor (Rochester), Brentland Woods and Rockwood Center (Henrietta), Seabury Woods (Gates), Beatrice Place (Greece), Pinehurst (Honeoye Falls), Ashley Woods (Penfield) and Upper South Street (Geneseo). ESLC is also building a new campus in Irondequoit, on the site of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, that will be moderate senior housing.

In keeping with our roots in the Episcopal Church, we have a full-time chaplain who is ordained in the Episcopal Church and a full-time lay chaplain/administrative assistant who provides pastoral care and conduct worship services in our communities. ESLC is grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester and for the leadership of The Bishop of Rochester as an ex-officio member of ESLC’s Board of Directors.

It is always with the spirit of our founders that ESLC continues to be at the forefront of designing programs and services that address gaps in our community and meet the evolving needs and expectations of the residents, staff, program participants and families—of today and into the future.
