Welcome to St. Luke’s Fairport,
truly a hidden gem, that is a paradise inserted into a neighborhood within the township of Perinton. Our original church was right in the village where presently sits the fire station. St. Luke’s on the hill is probably the most beautiful spot in Fairport and ideal for sunrises, sunsets, star gazing and next year we will probably be a sight for the great eclipse. Hikers, children and families are encouraged to come onto our grounds to enjoy the playground, as well as blessing boxes which supply needed items for children and pets. It is an ideal spot for personal retreats. What may not be evident by our photos is a basement and undercroft with ideal opportunities for rent and usage. Presently the classic rock band “Herding Cats “ practices here.
St Luke’s worshiping community has as our vision statement “ An open Christ-centered community, caring for each other and doing God’s work in the world.” We consist of around 88 households who seek to live our vision in this time and place. Many of us are are involved in social justice ministries in our area. We continue to participate in our Perinton Ministry Association celebrating our ecumenical and interfaith efforts.
Alexandra Hine leads our choir and we are blessed by her skills and mastery of piano, flute and organ. Our choir though small move hearts as they share their beautiful voices and special anthems each Sunday. Like many of our churches we struggle dealing with the pandemic, natural attrition and aging. We are blessed with some young families who continue to enrich our community with life giving spirit. A youth choir is in our reach and we are hoping will spur on some more of our young families to join us. St. Luke’s will continue to be tenacious in light of whatever God sends our way.
